In January 2024 China’s human rights record is up for review at the United Nations Human Rights Council. At this assessment, called the ‘Universal Periodic Review’, UN members will grill the Chinese government on its human rights record and make recommendations for how it needs to improve.
In the last year, we've successfully pressed the UN to escalate their concern about Tibet and they have issued a number of strongly worded reports scrutinizing the Chinese government’s oppression - highlighting the colonial boarding schools system designed to strip young Tibetans of their language and cultural identity, to the detention of Tibetan environmental human rights defenders.
And now we need to do more.
Over the next few months Tibet Network will be training and supporting Tibetans and Tibet activists across five continents - running face-to-face trainings, sharing specialist resources and materials, and giving strategic advice on how we can seize the opportunity and raise Tibetan voices to the highest level.
Would you consider making a small monthly gift to support this ongoing work? Regular donations allow the International Tibet Network team to plan ahead and invest in programmes like this training.
