Tibetan Buddhism is under constant attack
From ever-tightening restrictions on the activities of monks and nuns to the demolition of religious sites and Buddhist statues, China seeks to undermine the religion that sits at the heart of Tibet’s history and identity.
China has even declared it will decide on matters of reincarnation and the succession of the Dalai Lama.
Tibetans deserve the world’s support as they push back against this outrageous assault on their religious freedoms. A new opportunity has arisen this week, with a parliamentary debate this Thursday. Entitled “Persecution of Buddhists in Tibet”, it is the perfect forum for MPs to learn about the repression Tibetans face and to press the government to support them.
