Airbnb: stop sponsoring genocide

Airbnb takes great pride in the claim that they work to “create a world where anyone can belong anywhere.”

Yet, they remain a global partner and supporter of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Beijing 2022 is being hosted by a government that holds over 2 million Uyghurs in internment camps, and its oppression and violence have made occupied Tibet the least free country in the world, alongside Syria.

Military checkpoints and roadblocks operate at every turn, with surveillance and facial recognition a routine of everyday life. This all means Tibetans and Uyghurs are prevented from travelling, let alone travelling to watch the Olympics!

Airbnb’s Olympics sponsorship deal goes directly against what they claim to value.

In January 2021, we led a letter to Airbnb, signed by over 190 rights groups, urging that they use their influence to press the International Olympic Committee to move the 2022 winter Olympics out of China, or withdraw their partnership. We haven’t heard a word in reply.

Please help us to turn up the volume by signing the petition to Airbnb today.
